John we need someone with some fucking balls to stand up this is horse shit. People dont get it the OPTEMPO for an SF guy during peacetime is high, during war time is unbelievable. Some spineless jackasses think the danger is over if there is no "war" SF guys die no matter if it is a declared war or not. The planet has some dangerous places and people, SF guys are going to go where they are so they dont come here..... I am going to stop for a little while longer and try to finish my coffee.

1992 SFAS was NO JOKE!!!! MUST be able to pass 17-21 APFT, didn't matter what age group. with a 50M swim test after APFT. Be able to carry 45lb for miles, But the ruck was actually weighing more like 50 to 55lb. I did this at 5'5, 150lb. Running 2 miles 11:30. benching 225lb, 3 sets of 10-12, maxing 353lb, incline 315lb. We had 3,4 and 5-mile run. took 1st,1st and 2nd place. To me, everything was a competition. 21-year-old kicking some ass. I heard all the BS and seen it 1st hand. Don't water down anything. All MEN need to STAND TALL and FIGHT. We need good OFFICERS to back good NCO and Soldiers. Maybe Congress needs to watch 300 SF (ROAR!!) and NOT the MOVIE!!!!Soon to RETIRE.

John I have to be honest I dont give a shit if the SF candidate has 3 eyeballs and shark fins, he should not "win" the green beret unless he passes the fucking standards. You know as do other team guys the standards are not there so guys can say I can do this better than a chic. I dont give a shit if a "chic" can do it. Those standards are there for a reason, they were developed form years of operations, combat, success and loss. The Arthur addresses the fact these people complaining the loudest have never done anything other sit their fat sissy asses at a desk. John it does not matter what Group, it does not matter what year, or team I can sit down with any real SF guy and have them explain to me why the standards are important based on a life or death situation. The truth is I am less worried if the SF candidate has a penis or a vagina as long as they meet the SAME standard.
John I am sure I will revisit this topic but I feel my BP going up. AAAGGGGGUUUUHHH I need to stop for now

My BP rose seeing the division in our regiment over the past several weeks LTC Searer. I feel your pain and see your point... My thoughts are the conventional force as a whole lost the Spirit of the bayonet and replaced it with free hugs. Group will be fine with the guys it attracts and mentality brought but this sure is creating a divide. This whole mess make us look like ass clowns and I truly hope the letter and follow up articles are false. Maybe it's the culture, attitude and character of this generation transitioning into the ranks, but as a whole I believe the individual war fighting skills are fading.

Yeah, the Warfighting skills are fading to all the other mandatory training that has to do with civilians. I came in 1990 and we had more combat training, now it has been replaced with low-density computer training to mention here.

SFC Carlos Diaz - Carlos I am afraid that is the new "cool" thing to do. Unfortunately many people refuse to admit that the armed service is to protect and help protect our allies. Being a master of new technology is great, however, anyone who puts a uniform on should be able to flip a mental switch and become a knuckle dragging barbarian of sorts.
There are some basic skills that anyone who wears a uniform should have i.e. load, fire (accurately), reduce stoppage, basic patrol and patrolling techniques. For PT they should occasionally put their hand on each other, everyone needs some combatives/hand to hand training. I remember as a 2LT it was like drinking from a fire hydrant, an IN officer learning about all the cool SF commo gear. But learning about it was never enough. I remember we routinely used all of our contingencies and worked on new ones. Every opportunity I/we had myself and or some of the guys would get involved in ODA training. It about facing what you are, technology is great, I love technology. HOWEVER, all those armed service uniforms are warrior uniforms. Even way back in the day, not every guy was the a sword fighter, some made the sword. I feel pretty confident when things went to hell the guy that made the swords would not think twice about knocking the rust off some of his sword fighting skills. My poorly made point is at each level a good Soldier has a little more influence. Become an expert at your MOS, but never forget we all are warriors and sometimes being a warrior means getting your knuckles bloody. Guy this conversation gets me a little frustrated, however, I love it. Thanks for making this semi broken knuckle dragging barbarian smile.

I LOVE OUR SPECIAL FORCES...I am glad we have people wanting to do that and put themselves through what they have to put themselves through...becaue I know it is something that neither desire nor have I ever felt like I could have made it through I don't care what sex you are...does not matter to me. What I do care about is lowering standards. The standards are there for a reason. They have been battle tested to ensure that everyone that graduates from a Special forces school in any of the services is mentally and physically prepared to carry out the duties required and take care of the person to the left and right of them and come home. When you lower standards people get killed.
