Home repair insurance should also be considered, especially in locations with weather extremes, e.g., AZ where air conditioners work triple time in the summer months--repairs and utility costs skyrocket if you don't insure your big ticket items.

That's why I have a Home Warranty program (same concept as Home Repair Insurance). When something is broken in my house I pay a $50 service call fee (in addition to my yearly rate). I've gotten a brand new ceiling fan in my bedroom and a brand new garbage disposal much cheaper than had I bought the equipment myself and then paid a contractor to install them.

PO1 John Miller - CPO Andy Carrillo, MS Yep, me too. I have home warranty. it's so worth it...my hot water heater went out a couple of years ago...only cost me $50 buck to have it replaced and installed....it applies to my other appliances and things around the house.

Good for you...renting is like taking your money and burning it or throwing it into the trash....but buying is like putting your money into a savings account.
let me know if I can help you when you are ready.
