I can provide lots of video links of indiscriminate bombing of civilians, often by Turkey but also by other middle east countries. And...unfortunately, this is our world and having a small American force in place would not have prevented this.

On the other hand having even a small retachment Special Ops may have presented itself as a deterrent to Turkish aggression in Northern Syria.

Turkey didn't do this a week ago, or a month ago, so I'm not certain it wasn't some sort of deterrent.
