Cpl (Join to see) It does but smallpox isn't /wasn't a disease that mutated as frequently, same with polio and other deadly diseases where you have to come in contact with a person. Viruses like influenza, and the coronavirus family often mutate so quickly and spread so quickly that vaccines don't block transmission 100%. You can get your flu shot every year still get infected with influenza get nothing more than a slight fever and be totally fine after the fever goes away. Despite so many people stoll vaccinated against flu each year we still have cases and deaths as we will with covid. The covid vaccine and flu vaccines will continue to be modified each year to react against the most serve variants going forward.

Sgt John Steinmeier I said the covid vaccine isn't going to prevent transmission 100% this is why when people were getting vaccinated earlier in the year between January and March there was no mask guidance for the fully vaccinated. In the beginning of the year there was no evidence vaccines didn't prevent transmission. Transmission between vaccinated people can still occur. My city has a well over 60% vaccinated and yesterday for the first time in 3 months mask mandates are back. These covid vaccines are meant to prevent you from becoming fully sick and ending up in the hospital nothing more nothing less. It's rhe same thing like the flu vaccine but once the FDA approves it within the coming weeks unless you live in a republican state you won't have any choice but to get it. The mandates will be coming. NYC is already starting it next month. You'll have to be partially vaccinated to engage in certain activities or enter certain places. If a virus doesn't mutate then q vaccine prevents transmission. See polio,measles,smallpox. They never mutate as rapidly as influenza and common cold viruses such as covid.
