We need to address this problem effectively. Sadly, the anti-gun crowd will drown out any rational debate with their agenda and the pro-gun crowd will fill any gaps in the conversation with their shopworn diatribes. By the time the dust settles, we'll have vented our spleen and have nothing left in the tank to fuel the search for a solution. Of course, avoiding this train wreck would require a leader who is more concerned with serving the people than with being "The Boss", "Top Dog", "El Jefe" and leading us with their "vision". Sadly, we not only don't have one of those today, but also none appear on the electoral horizon.

You are 100% correct Captain. The two most vocal sides need to get together along with everyone else involved and come up with a solution.

Its a complicated problem that will need a complicated solution. School shootings are not a new problem and actually go back to the beginning of time. Its not a modern day problem that many think it is.

I wish I had the answer.

And the best way to do that is to arm select teachers!

SPC Andrew Griffin - I'm in a MS Ed program now and actually wrote a proposal for a program similar to Air Marshals but for teachers instead. The gist of it is that select teachers go through a LE program during summer break and become Marshals. The only ones in the school who would know which teachers are the Marshals would be local LE, the Principsl and Assistant Principal, the other Marshals and the Superintendent. These teachers would carry concealed just like an Air Marshal and would only act if necessary. Their primary duties would not be LE, they would simply be the first responders for an active shooter situation. Refresher training would be required annually.

SPC Andrew Griffin - It's only for an Education Law class unfortunately. But I'd love to try to get the idea to catch on.

Good plan. The President the his followers on the left will scream more gun laws that don't work BTW. Schools are in that group of what we call soft targets. Shopping Malls no longer fall in that group because in any given shopping mall you will have off duty police, security and people that have conceal and carry. Take a look at place that you would consider soft targets and Schools, churches and other areas that have banned CCW.

SPC Andrew Griffin Thankfully this shooting is not reporting casualties. Hopefully none will be reported from those that were injured.
