Thanks Sgt Kelli Mays for letting us know that Justice for Vets has launched a public service announcement highlighting Veterans Treatment Courts using actors and actresses to highlight the issues.

I met Melissa Fitzgerald a couple of weeks ago (May 30, 2018) . I asked Melissa about why she & the cast of West Wing were involved in this program. Melissa advised me that she became a director at the National Association of Drug Treatment Courts and an advocate for Veterans as a result of a few of her life experiences.
- Bottomline: Melissa's father was a Judge and founded the Drug Treatment Court program. She had a deep personal connection to the entire Drug Treatment Court program system.
- Through some contacts, Melissa was actually offered an opportunity to serve as a Director of the at the National Association of Drug Treatment Courts (after her days as an actress on West Wing and other gigs). She departed the Hollywood California scene and moved to Washington DC to pursue the opportunity. (I think she may now be working on a related program or focus area.)
- I currently have every reason to believe Melissa Fitzgerald and her fellow West Wing cast members are sincere and truly support Veterans; especially programs aimed at assisting Veterans to integrate back into society and lobbying (and otherwise advocating) for Veterans programs through the 'Justice for Vets' arm of the broader National Association of Drug Treatment Courts.
- Not all of the 'Hollywood' crowd should be judged by the actions of a few rotten apples. Even if there are some divergent philosophies -- there is also some common ground amongst many (like Gary Sinise and others who participate in USO programs) in supporting Veterans. And check out what former NFL Player Donnie Edwards does to support Veterans if you desire another truly inspiring example from the NFL about dedication to our country.
