Fox News is reporting that the military member was a Air Force Colonel and his family. Some of his family members are in critical condition.

SSG Carlos Madden - No unit info. Apparently, he was on vacation with his family and was travelling back to the US. However, he could have been PCS'ing back home also.

Last Wednesday the DC Metro and transportation network was shut down SSG Carlos Madden. While nothing was mentioned I am fairly sure that DHS was conducting a sweep of the system while other maintenance was being performed.
I was at Fort Belvoir over the weekend and Fort Detrick yesterday and noticed an elevated security posture is in effect.
We know that Belgium, Netherlands and France have significant Muslim populations with radicalized elements in each. I expect that the intel, security and direct action forces of those nations, and their neighbors as well as our own nation have improved their sharing of timely and actionable intel. I hope and pray that all planned and impromptu terroristic attacks by ISIS, al Qaeda, and their cohorts in crime will be interdicted.
