I'm not sure how many people are wrecked over it. I grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy looming large in the box office and liked the first three. I could do without most of the rest of them.
I saw the original Star Wars in 1977 at a small twin theater in my home town. It was an epic film for it's day and launched a lot of careers an revived a few too.

She was an actress defined by a role she played. She was not a princess, she pretended to be one. She is like Winkler and Fonzie, West and Batman, Moore and The Lone Ranger in some ways.

Had she not taken that role she would likely be unknown to all of us today. That is just the way it goes. Everything she has done since then is not the stuff of Hollywood legend. She got the role of a lifetime at a very young age and made the best of it. She had her issues as a person too, drug abuse, bipolar disorder etc.

@Cpl Jeff N. You are right she was a young actress, she got the role of a lifetime, and it did very much define her career. She did suffer from both substance abuse and mental health issues. She also used her fame to raise awareness. She publicly spoke about her issues in an effort to show that having those issues was not something to be ashamed of, rather something to be overcome. So the headline was melodramatic, but in this day and age that is the norm.

Most interesting... she did play some good roles and I am sure her Friends and Family are devastated ... I will mis her performances but have Reruns and Videos to remind me of her...
But for Folks who did not know beyond the Screen , the Emotional outpouring is a Bit Much...
Is this an indictment of what this country is or has become...

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we made celebrities out of real heroes? Men and women of good character and virtue. There's plenty of them around. All we need are journalists who have the interest and integrity to tell stories with as much art as novelists and screenwriters employ. Once upon a time they did
