Interesting read; While my gut reaction was to slam the professor, after reading the article I can see where she has a (one) point. She saw people with guns on campus and called 911, I think that was prudent. The 911 dispatcher didn't know anything about ROTC training, so I can see how it would be scary.
I don't have as much of a problem with the professor as I do with whatever departments at UND not talking with each other. Ideally, the Campus Cops would know where/when ROTC was running around with rubber rifles, and the staff and faculty would get advanced notification.
This doesn't sound so much "anti military" to me as it does being afraid of another active shooter, which I think lots of us (including me) are.

ok i can see that, but then you got to see that there in uniform and go oh maybe there in ROTC.....how could this person be a professor at a school and not know what kind of program is offer at the university your working at....

And, the follow-up story came out yesterday. It does appear the professor had an axe to grind. (So I agree with all of you).
That being said, I still hold my point that I'm glad professors are quick to call campus police/security when they see people with guns. Don't need any active shooters, and universities should share information. Just like I wouldn't want Soldiers patrolling in my housing area on post, I think ROTC could have worked in an area not near the offices.
Again, those of you that called her out for being political, it appears that you were correct.

SrA Jerry Prizevoits - don't you think calling 9-11 every time is a bit over the top even after she's been informed that the ROTCs are drilling? If I was the chief of campus police, I'd warn her the first time and arrest her the second time she used the 911 system to report a non-emergency. The dispatchers have better things to do.

Sir- I agree for the most part, especially that it is NOT her job to determine the threat or not, but I do take issue with the comment in the original article asking if the maneuvers are necessary. How is military training NOT necessary in response to the exact threat being cited as the reason for concern? Anyone whose response to the threat of violence is to take away training opportunities for those who will soon be directly responsible for our defense is directly contributing to the issue by eliminating more of our own defensive options.
