The Pope is truly a "lead by example" kind of guy. If he weren't the POPE, I would have sworn that he was once an Army NCO!

I have no issue with him serving others and setting a good example through kindness and service (displaying the fruits). To say, however, we are "children of the same God" is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. If you are a Christian and have any familiarity with the scripture (which clearly the Pope should). His own Church's doctrine of the trinity would tell him we do not worship the same God.

It is true that we had the same point of origin through creation but that is not the same thing as "worshipping the same God".

A simple reading of John 1 should orient the believer to the truth. Of course there are many others but this one cuts to the chase. This set of versus describes Christ's role in the relationship with him and the Father and that he and God are really one. The word (which is a euphemism for Christ) became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

We should ask the Pope how many of the migrants were given asylum in the Vatican and will now live there with him. My guess is close to none.

Are you saying, then, that Jews do not worship the same god as Christians, because they do not believe in the Trinity? How about Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and Christian Scientists. Do they all worship a different god? You are obviously very familiar with the Bible, but you are clueless about the Torah(ironic) and the Qur'an. Mohammad was a Jew before writing the Qur'an, and even cites Jesus as one of the most important prophets. BTW, Allah is nothing more than the Arabic word for God.

Cpl Jeff N. What are you saying? I get that there will ALWAYS be people that will find fault in anything and everyone, but do you not see the immense olive branch the Pope has extended to ALL those faiths? That he is doing the one thing so many self-styled Muslims, Jews, and Christians regularly fail to do which is back up his beliefs with action, his words with deeds, and faith with example? As a Wiccan, I find it inspiring and shocking that in the midst of megachurches, celebrity evangelists, and pundit preachers that this one man has more integrity in the footprints he leaves than all of those people combined and I find it saddening, though not surprising, that Christians that claim to live at the foot of the Cross STILL manage to find fault with the Pope

If by that he meant that God creates everyone, even those who don't believe in Him, then I can agree. The God of the Muslims certainly isn't the same God that the Pope worships, though. God loves His creation, even if they don't return His love.

It saddens me how ignorant some people can be. If you knew anything about Islam, you would know that Muslims consider Jews and Christians brothers who worship the same Gid of Abraham.
