Personally I don't think this goes far enough. I do know that retirees can submit a form to the VA and the funds can be reimbursed, but the process is a pain. What I really don't agree with is doing drill pay adjustments in general for those who serve and are concurrently receiving both drill pay and disability pay. Many of these servicemembers are struggling with their own demons anyway, several are drawing food stamps and other forms of public assistance. Currently, the VA is coming after me for over $8,700. They will be taking half of my disability check for the next two months, after taking half of it this month, and several hundreds of dollars each month dating back to October of last year. When I asked my congresswoman about it, she said "we are working on it". This entire law is so disgraceful and disrespectful to those who serve and continue to sacrifice and yet, Congress just drags their feet and does not want to do anything about it as they figure they can sweep it under the rug. I can pay my bills (rent, car payment, etc.), but there is no money left over for food or gas until July 1st. No one deserves this, and after everything I have been through, I don't deserve it either.

I feel your pain. Back in 1994, when the Air Force discharged me for a back injury and PTSD. They paid me just a little over $16,500 in severance pay. The V.A. said I had to pay it all back. In 2018, this year. I'll be making my last payment back.
