If we do not do it, someone else will... then we will be behind the curve or outside the wheel... We need to stay on top and on that leading/bleeding edge.

When the Arleigh Burke class first came out, they were putting reflectors on her too. I don't know if they still do that or not. The point is, that during normal peacetime navigation, the Maritime Rules of the Road apply, and you MUST be visible.

Every warship goes stealth at times - EMCON, turning off all running lights, etc. But these put the ship and other shipping at risk and must be done with extreme caution. Likewise with the Elmos... Their stealth will be an advantage in war, just as it is with the B2, F117, JF35, etc...

It's a neat concept, but the lack of firepower keeps it from being an actual war fighting ship. If you're making a stealthy platform, that should be the baddest ship in the fleet.

I am no expert on the ship. But my understanding is it has most of the firepower a conventional DDG would just it is internal. I believe it is a platform built aimed more towards weapon platforms being designed/testing now. But that is my take on the ship l am not an expert on it.

That would be something to see. I wonder how long it would take to unshroud weapons to put them to use. Hope it never has to be used, but if so that it can do its support role.

I just worry with the lack of funding, that the concept behind these ships and the desired capabilities, were lost in actuality.
