We're licensed and approved by the appropriate state licensing agencies, the DMV, and the Department of Education. We're also approved for the training of eligible veterans using the GI Bill. My state, Massachusetts, has a great program where I just had to provide proof of my lincense on certain vehicles and then pass the written test to get my CDL. Great certification to have in my back pocket, just in case.

Husband was former Army and due to a knee injury he had to leave the military. He then went to school and got his CDL. This is great for those getting out and the money is there. I just wished there was an outlet for those who are formerly processed out and want to get a CDL that a company would assist with the Vet in getting their certifications. It would help alleviate costs since some schools do not provide help (other than taking out of their check every week).

Absolutely agree! My husband went into the trucking biz with no experience; he went ahead and did the school and was hired right after. The thing was that the company fired him after 10 months, without warning, no reason at all (no driving infractions). After some research, some companies will fire drivers so they won't have to pay back all the money they went to school for, sticking them with the bill. We went through a lot of bull over that. There are catches that some just don't see and it can bite pretty hard when you don't pay attention.

Cpl Kenneth Darby - Yep that's unfortunate. My husband has been driving the same amount of time you have and has done local, regional and OTR. He's learn a whole lot more being out on his own. I think that's the concept of the CDL anyways; just a like a Class D license; you learn the basics but the real test is the experience you get from having the license.
You just have to read, re-read and read those contracts the schools and the companies they have. Otherwise you are just going into every blindly; that's never good.

Cpl Kenneth Darby - All a learning experience. Luckily my husband has nothing on his record so he's sought after even though he's working now and making pretty good money. That's the thing as a driver, when you are unemployed you can get back to work in no time.

That dedicated route, though. Everyone wants that if you got a family. My husband looked everywhere years ago for something (pre-military) and when I joined the Navy, it just became a whatever-comes-your-way aspect. He's transported ice cream, beer; just to have some income and keep him busy.
