LTC Thomas Tennant After reading the title, and then the article, I can tell you that I was expecting something else. It's well written, but almost doesn't fit what the title is selling. The title to me could have covered a variety of topics such as wives understanding the women serving alongside their husbands at the company and platoon levels. Cannot tell you how many wives were upset to hear there was a woman deployed with their husbands in Afghanistan. Some of the guys went as far as to hide it from their wives (this of course wasn't smart and backfired.)

Agree that title is a bit misleading. Around the same time as females started at WP we had female crew chiefs start pulling alert with SAC aircrews. This caused a bit of turmoil with some wives. After all these females were in a small facility with males for 7 continuous days. Logistics took some working out, since there were no female facilities in the alert facility, but in the end schedules were created to make male and female times for facilities and it came down to professionals doing their duty. There were no issues and eventually modifications were made to the alert building that made it no different than being in any motel/hotel.

I went downrange with 4th Id D co and other units when I was in the Army. The reactions I got were from one extreme to another. Being accused of trying to sleep with some guy by a very jealous wife who thought EVERYONE wanted her man to absolute indifference, like I was a machine. I preferred the latter. I was never after anyone who was married or even dating, its against my code of honor and I have more respect for myself and my brothers than that.

My wife had no problems with women in the military, she knew that she was my one and only, and didn't chase other women.

My wife wanted to know nothing about women in the Marine Corps. She could care less about them. That being said, the article is a good read, but the headline can use a rewrite.
