BUD/S instructors and BUD/S training are under very close scrutiny. Everything is mapped out, some evolutions to the minute. Calculations are done everyday regarding water temperature, air temperature, and how much work needs to be done to keep the body above hypothermic levels. This isn't child's play. When the Instructors deviate or do not adhere strictly to the regulations in place for safety concerns, people die. No part of being a SEAL or Training to become one is completely safe - and the men who are determined to become SEALs literally will die trying. If you don't have the do or die mentality, you are in the grand minority and probably won't make it..

This is a very sad tragedy and one that could have been avoided. Fair winds, shipmate..
