SSgt (Join to see) Very old report (2012-2013) that was accomplished with an obvious agenda in mind. Individuals interviewed go all the way back to the 80's. While some of the "victims" could certainly be telling the truth, I assume that an equal number are not. As pointed out by DOD, many assumptions were made and there was no review of individuals' military records.

My experience is exactly the opposite... the victim is always assumed to be telling the truth and a detailed, impartial investigation is launched into the allegations. Are there/were there cases and situations like those described in the article. Sure ... Are they the norm. No..

Here is a link to the report: https://www.hrw.org/node/288710/

I agree with the Colonel. Your people must know that you have their back. There never any doubt what the consequences were for sexual assault. I also watched for profiling in my offices as well. When one my people began to take too much time looking in the general direction of another person, it was FIRST time to review sexual harrassment and it was not tolerated. If my person of interest didn't get the hint, then it was time for a one to one discussion.

It is a shame that the small negative made it into media coverage and that is what represents the case.

So far I am reading only seeing male responses. I will be very interested in some from our esteemed female RP participants. I have been on both sides of this issue. As a father, I had to address these very issues with a daughter. As a man and BC, I have had to adjudicate a few cases where I had to pray for the "wisdom of king Solomon." There are no "cleave the baby" solutions and everyone has to literally walk on egg shells.

Just dealing with the facts and circumstances alone is daunting enough for anyone, but when you politicize and are pressured to follow a political agenda all sense of justice and fairness can easily be pushed to the side. In todays environment the "perp" is normally a man and once the "vic" (normally a woman) makes her accusations there is now a presumption of "guilty until proven innocent." All the help and support is focused on the "vic" while the alleged "perp" is left hanging and mostly all alone. Often, the truth is the first causality of the process unless everyone other than the "perp" and "vic" are willing to focus on getting to the truth. In todays helter-skelter world, not many people are so disposed and often are simply looking for the set of facts supporting their preconceptions.

That is why I find this article highly suspect and question the journalistic chops of those who helped produced it. CNN (aka Clinton News Network or Commie News Network) is not known for it's journalistic integrity and is know for pushing a liberal political agenda. They have been masters at playing the woman or victim card when it helps further their political agenda and narrative. And I for one am tired of their total lack of integrity and honesty in their reporting....to the point I never watch them and even go as far as turn most waiting room TV's to FOX News or Business....at least I know the FOX brand tries to get it right even when they too miss the mark.

I don't know the story and I'm just going off of how things work today. But if there were no charges actually filed against the so called attacker maybe she was just crying wolf.

Then again it was 16 years ago and a much different military. Not sure why they chose to use that example now.
