Army Reserves lieutenant colonel indicted for fraud

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Prosecutors say an Army Reserves lieutenant colonel has been indicted on accusations of fraudulently supplying Chinese-made baseball caps and backpacks as American-made gear to the Army Recruiting Command.
U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said in a news release Wednesday that a federal grand jury indicted 48-year-old Lt. Col. Frederick Lamar Burnett of Madison on three counts of fraud. An indictment says Burnett defrauded the Department of Defense on three contracts that he had through his company, Lamar International Inc.
Two of the contracts were for baseball caps and one was for backpacks. All of the items were to be used as promotional items to give to the Army recruits.
The three contracts were worth $6.2 million and were all awarded between the 2005 and 2007.

Hopefully if found guilty LTC Frederick Lamar Burnett will be punished sufficiently for defrauding the US government by supplying Chinese-made baseball caps and backpacks as American-made gear to the Army Recruiting Command SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL

LT Miranda Bernabei - I expect an audit uncovered the fraud. I was thinking that an auditor brought down Al Capone. I am not equating LTC Frederick Lamar Burnett to Al Capone; but, it is great that auditors are able to uncover truth which leads to indictment for misdeeds.
