I agree with your assertion. However, mentorship of junior leaders and subordinates isn't mentioned as a bullet on EVALs and you're not going to get an award so many people overlook it as a responsibility.
If more people realized that you have a responsibility to pass on your wisdom, mentorship, like many things, wouldn't have to be encouraged because Soldiers would naturally share. As I have watched the force become more focused on self and less on the unit, the number of Soldiers seeking mentors has diminished as well.

That sounds like great news CPT (Join to see) that Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr., the superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point, along with members of the school’s athletic department, paid a visit to U.S. Army Central during the Memorial Day weekend.
An old friend and classmate of mine is the COCOM of CENTCOM.
