After 9/11, murder and suicide rates in NYC actually went DOWN - we unified as a country. Now vets are coming back and seeing a divided nation - this political party accusing that one for all our problems; racial and religious violence.. "united we stand, divided we fall"

I know - even in our squadron, maintenance department would bicker with ops; then with maintenance, avionics would blame mech's; and so on. One step at a time.. step 1: recognize there's a problem.. while step 2 is normally start to fix it, I think in this case we need to help others also recognize what's going on and maybe more importantly what's at stake!

Therein lies the problem. If the polarity in society is a significant cause of PTSD as this speaker contends, there is little hope that it will get better. Veterans had better steel themselves, because opposing sides (Democrats vs Republicans, Left vs Right, Progressive Liberal vs Conservative) are not going to join hands and put their differences aside, not for anyone or anything. Compromise requires that one or both parties surrender their principles and they're simply not going to do that. I'm not. Would you?

There's a reason why I don't follow the Trump, HRC and Politics groups on RP. I know American society and Washington aren't going to become less polarized but I won't be part of it on RP. I also think there's a major difference in standing up for what one believes in and rhetoric that lacks fact or tact.

This is very thought provoking as it pushes the umbrella of theories respective to PTSD and all the ramifications of it. I will need to rattle his ideas in my head more as he does not address the physiological aspects of PTSD to see what the connections are.

A while back, I read one of those academic research papers that pointed out how this connection with PTSD and a soldier's sense of betrayal went as far back as the Greek warriors.
