We should be able to choose what best fits our needs as SM's

Boots
Shoes
Mag Pouches
Ear Pro
Ect

Not everyone is build the same from flat feet, reload times. As leaders yes we may restrict a SM wearing pink shoes. But there are shoe stores that can watch you walk/run and build a shoe around your foot. We train and we watch what betters our soldiers for the fight. I'm so glad that BN level SOP for exactly how your kit needs to be set up has gone away but it's not far back from uniformity across the board for everything and that's just not feasible.

I'm rambling but the restrictions that pop up sometimes blow my mind.

Don't disagree about that SGT, the only issue is flat feet can cause ankle, knee, hip, and back issues. Also, I agree with your first statement, and if you look at my new statement, that would be the perfect example (need better/lighter body armour, e.g. Dragon Skin).

SGT Charles W. - Yeah flat feet sucks but it doesn't stop me from killing the enemy lol.

I'm tracking the task a purpose of that facility your talking about. I was part of a test unit dor new plate carriers, sleep systems, assault packs hell we even had awesome one man tents issued to us.

The tests are great. And we put in very positive reviews with very useful feedback, but then we get issued some half ass plate carrier, and other stuff that is close too said test items but not the actual item. I'm sure it deals 100% with $$$

Can someone please tell me how to make the name bold so the person is notified and gets points. SGT Chase Edgren, damn skippy about first sentence, I have no doubt about that. Flat feet don't affect the trigger finger, roflmao. And for the second half, you're probably partially correct. Usually, the same company will develop different prototypes of the same thing that differ somewhat and they can produce it for a lower costs and etc,etc.etc. So I do agree, I'm sure $$ has part to do with it, BUT I know that SF is usually the first to field test a lot of this cool guy shit, as they are the ones that probably need it the most. I know when I was at Ft. Drum, there was this poly pro suit with poly pro boots (obviously numerous layers) that were issued to the scout unit, and you could even don the suit until it was at least -15 degrees because otherwise you'd sweat your assets off. It's mainly used for scouts/snipers who are in one place for long periods of time in the snow/cold. They not only field tested it, but were issued it, so I do know there are circumstances that what you said aren't true. I don't think the Armed Forces is going to throw all that $$ spent in research down the drain, and I do know that SF gets first pick of ANYTHING they want down to modular weapons. So, my gut feeling is that if it survives with SF and they give it a good rating, then it will trickle down from there. This is obviously partially an assumption, part I know is fact.

Just like the boots you should be able to wear what are most comfortable for you. Basically what it seems like is these companies are complaining and are trying to get a contract to be the supplier for military. It's bad enough that they play with our livelihoods as it is the last thing we really have that isn't controlled is our pt foot gear.
