Kim Bolen RN CCM ACM the sample size in this study was incredibly small with 8 TBI victims compared to 15 civilians, including those with old brain injuries from sports or vehicle accidents. I was interested that the study looked for civilian brains to " include people who had abused opioid drugs over time, so as to mirror the cases of the veterans who had abused drugs in case the drug abuse caused a pattern of brain damage." I think it would have been more useful to screen out those who had long-term opioid use from both groups.
I have been around many explosions while in the military as I expect most combat arms soldiers have.
One day I am hopeful they will put some effort into developing a test for the human variant of bovine spongiform to test the hundreds of thousands of service members who were stationed in Europe during the 1980s and others areas where Mad cow infected beef may have been consumed.
