CrossFit has been the mainstay of military training especially for Special Forces nearly since its inception. What is new - taking resiliency training to the Boxes.
Performance Intelligence. The PI Course.
I have been the founder/CEO of Military Healing Center since 2009. In developing my role as a Combat Stress Specialist, I researched the existing resiliency-based programming of the Canadian Forces and the US Military using primary source documents such as the US field manuals on Combat Stress and their recommendations.
From these recommendations I created a deployable training resource called the MBV Program. To determine the value of this resource, I conducted a Joint Can/US Police Stress Study with 112 officers. The results were outstanding. MBV stands for Meditations, Breathing Techniques and Visualizations; the top three dial down techniques recommended.
From this field study, I created TTSCT, Tactical Trauma Self Care Training, and piloted that training program in Canada, the UK and the US. I have taken the concepts of military training, which are important, but present these in the PI Course in a DEEP DIVE understanding of why these are important and teach protocols needed to obtain desired outcomes. As a CrossFitter, I immediately saw the CrossFit community as a way to present the critical pieces of this training to a broad spectrum of fitness-minded people including military, law enforcement, fire services.
Interestingly, to increase performance, to recover from trauma and to pre-empt Combat Stress symptoms you need to understand the same core training components in the physical and mental domains.
Performance Intelligence, the PI Course, takes what the military has started then uses more advanced tactics that guarantee optimum outcomes.
This is in-class training. All fitness levels are encouraged to attend. Each PI course is followed by a WOD (Workout of the Day) designed and led by the host gym.
