Preparing for PCS is generally very difficult SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Preparing to say good-bye to friends, children leaving schools sometimes in the middle of the year; spouses turning in notices they are leaving employment; questions about the new assignment especially if it is an unaccompanied tour are all very stressful.
Ensuring that your finances are in order is crucial to a smooth transition. Hopefully your bank for DFAS direct deposit has an office near to the new duty station or that it is accessible anywhere. If not you may need to notify DFAS and ask for their help in choosing a suitable bank for the next assignment.
