This is disappointing and disheartening. The name of the memorial should be "Infantry War on Terrorism Memorial."

All other war memorials are located in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall. This is nothing more than a way to get more vets to visit the Infantry Museum. If/when this receives the needed private/government funding and if it is built at Ft. Benning it will make it that much more difficult to build a memorial on the National Mall. Not everyone who was involved in GWOT was Infantry. I personally have no desire to visit Ft. Benning as I have no connection there. I would think Soldiers from other branches would feel the same way. Additionally, how does this look to the Marines, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard who also fought in GWOT? My connection is Medical and would love to see the memorial built at Ft. Sam Houston. But, that is unrealistic since not everyone who serves if from the Medical Service Corps. How about the Armor, Calvary or Field Artillery troops? I'm sure they would be overjoyed to visit the home of the "Queen of Battle." I can see my brother (Navy) and me (Army) as a 70+ year old vets taking our Honor Flights to Ft. Benning.

One a final note regarding the choosing of Ft. Benning. I find it interesting that all four of these INFANTRY Generals are "prepared to roll up [their] our sleeves” to get the job done. I would be too if this memorial were to built on my home field.

The war against terrorism began long before 9/11/2001 SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL I hope that all US military personnel killed by terrorists since 1960 or so would be included in this memorial and that it would not be limited to those who died fighting in OEF, OIF, etc.
