I have been a nurse for a while. I have seen people die...in various ways. never from assisted suicide. I think it should be a right to choose. I don't believe in it so much. But if I was in that situation where I could not bear it....I would want to end my pain....and it BE MY CHOICE....not the Dr or the people who are against it! If it is my soul that is on the line....and not someone elses....I'd like to have that power over my own existence. If I let others choose for me...I give up my freedom of choice.

I am not one to insist that someone die a horrible, slow death so that I can feel better about myself, but this is a decision that should be reached by all parties. No hospital, physician or pharmacist should be forced to provide that service.

Agreed. I'd just hate to be the poor soul suffering immeasurably while people just look at me. We have more sympathy and compassion for a dog or some other animal than we do for humans. Human life is more valuable they say...I guess their pain and suffering is not.

Although I am a pro-lifer, this is a decision that should be left up to a competent individual. I believe medical professionals should be permitted to not carry out this based on their oaths and beliefs. I have seen family and friends suffer more than most of us would understand. Torture is illegal but isn't letting one suffer when they feel it is time to go?

right! I am a stuck between prolife and prochoice. I guess I will have to search out why I believe what I do. That is where and what it comes down to actually. Our beliefs....what we were taught. We act like we have something invested stating our opinion of what other people should do with their very lives. I have seen the opposite in the world too....I have seen families keep one member alive...just so they can keep the check rolling in monthly. Who fights against this corruption? No one because of our belief and attachment to life. Death is just another phase of existence. I hope no one stops me when my time is up.....
