The Dems should not have "used" his family, and Trump should not have taken the bait. What a sad story, all the way around.

SP5 Christine Conley Not really. Mrs. Smith's son was killed while providing security for the state department run by HRC. There were security issues not addressed by the state department for many months. During the attack, no one sent in support or help and 4 Americans died, others wounded. HRC then lied to all of us about the cause of the attack on the anniversary of 9-11. It is proven that she knew the attack was radical islamists and tried to pin it on a video.

HRC was at the top of that department and bears some/most perhaps all of the responsibility for the failure in here department (where does the buck stop at the state department). There is a direct line from Smith to HRC. She is 100% responsible for her lies on the topic. There is no such line from Captain Khan's death to Trump.

Mr Kahn's attack on Trump was over his position on a temporary ban on immigration from states/regions that have radical islamic issues until we can better vet the immigrants etc. (you can agree or disagree with that position, it isn't relevant to this topic). Trumps position on a ban on immigration has nothing, zero to do with Captain Kahn's death in Iraq in 2004. His parents trying to link the two was intellectual dishonest.

Bullshit, General! No one forced Mr. Khan to stand up in front of the national media and publicly attack Donald Trump. Once he did that, he painted a target on his back and he's now fair game.

CPl read it again he stated “If @realDonaldTrump wants to be the Commander in Chief, he needs to act like one,’ Dakota wrote on Twitter. “And that can’t start until he apologizes to the Khans.” That is stating that he can't be a Commander and Chief until he apologized. Trump is too psychotic to make an apology to anyone.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - And Meyers also said he intends to vote for Trump. But who made Meyers the be all and end all of what is right or wrong anyway? Do you think Meyers can't be wrong because he's a MOH recipient?

The entire problem with this topic is that we conflate two topics that should not be conflated. Topic 1: I know no one who would not agree that Captain Kahn served honorably and heroically gave his life for his country. HIS SERVICE stands on its own merit and I know no one, including Trump, that has said anything negative about him or his service.

Topic 2: Is his parents showing up at a purely political/partisan event and launching an attack on a candidate and using their son's sacrifice as cover for it. Gold Star parents that decide to enter the political fray do so at their own risk. If they want to go on the attack for political reasons they need to be prepared for blowback. If someone had dishonored their son, his service, his memory they would be right in going after that person. That is not what happened here.

The general, like far too many, conflate the two topics and is either being dishonest or is politically motivated.
