LTC Stephen Conway "MSG Parker", Det 1, Co B, 17th GP, Ft MacArthur, 1962 was on jump status w/ obviously 1/2 an ankle. Stan had lost the other half during the WW II with the Polish Army! He passed away in the 1985 era!

For those of you who never heard of a 17th Group... It was a Reserve Group activated in Boise, Idaho in 1961 and absorbed into the 12th Special Forces Group in 1966...

1SG(P) Dean Mcbride (MPER) (SPHR) Interesting information, thank you. In 1962/62 the unit was known as a means for a reservist to attend Jump School. Regretfully, my surgically repaired, football shoulder was twisted by Ron Helson during a hand to hand combat class and I RTU’d a USAR leg company.

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 - Funny Fact: I was on a pistol team in the 25th Inf Div and earned an Excellence in Competition Badge (it was referred to as a Leg Badge because of the level of competition it was for). Because it was not very common, When I wore it on my uniform, I was always asked what the award was. I told everyone it was a Leg Badge. The general response was "Damn, they give you a badge for being a Leg!"
