I saw this last night on FB, and how people are slamming this young 2LT. The young man IMO did exactly what he should have. To me, that is pride in your National anthem. A salute to him. Remember face the flag or the music. I can see where this could confuse the Youngman, especially in a stadium.

Hats off to him.

I was thinking the same thing when I watched this. I think we've all been in this situation where there are multiple flags or speakers where the anthem is being played from. What's important is that he was trying to do the right thing.

One time we were on the little bit of road that connects McGuire AFB and Fort Dix right at 1700. I didn't know the Air Force played the anthem and not Retreat but because of where were were at that moment we could hear both being played simultaneously. We were confused as to what we should do but we decided the Star Spangled Banner took some kind of precedence, turned our backs to Fort Dix and Retreat, and saluted the flag on McGuire. Not sure if that was the right thing to do but it felt like it so that's what we did.

Hats off to this 2LT.
