Thanks for sharing the news that chef Robert Irvine is making an effort "to reshape how American troops eat wherever they are stationed or deployed" SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I used to eat at the Pentagon food court sometimes but usually ate in one of the basement dining areas which were open 24 hours based on my schedules.
It will be interesting to see how "Irvine’s restaurant, located in the Pentagon’s main concourse" will draw those who work in the building. Hopefully the prices will be reasonable.
It may well stand out among the building’s other food options, which include fast-food chains like McDonald's, Burger King and Popeye’s Chicken.

There is only ONE place open these days open 24/7 and their food in less than desirable, their customer service is even worse! No choices exist after about 4pm, its sad.

SGT (Join to see) - that is sad. When I worked I supported one of the ops centers there used to be a sandwich/burger place a couple levels down which was opened 24/7 and tended to serve good food [1998-2006].

Irvine has always been a supporter of the military. One of the biggest grippes that service members have is the food. i know the cooks are capable of producing great and nutritious food when left to their own, but are bound by recipes dictated from their respective services. When I was AD, I was actually told my a friend of mine, one of the mess sergeants (Yes, it pays to have friends in the chow hall.) that there was actually a DA recipe for mixing grape and green koolaid. What? I did notice food varies, depending on the unit. Great food with the Special Ops guys. Good with Airborne, Straight leg was so-so. Worse chow hall meal was a while training with the Marines. To this day, I'm sure I could not identify everything on the tray. Maybe an overall overhaul of those recipes will improve things for all. Improve for the troops, and the folks that cook for them,

They are bound to follow recipes, using the garbage purchased from Sysco and the outdated spoiled produce that the veterinarian says is fit for human consumption. It is just the sustenance they are required to provide sort of like filling up a C17 with JP-8.
