I am disgusted with this on a Personal and Professional level. Every American has a right to free speech I 100% agree but when you choose to serve you have now agreed to follow the rules and regulations we live by. It is no longer an option to sit while the Anthem is played, it is no longer an option to throw Black Panther Salutes and make statements like “It's just, until this country shows that they've got my back as a black woman, that they've got my people's back — not even just my people but all people of color — I just can't. And I won't." We are not Black, White, Brown, Red, Straight, Gay, Religion, other, We are the United States Navy and are one people.
Apply the rules evenly and take responsibility for your own actions.
On the topic of Kaepernick he is running his mouth and all these lemmings are following. But what has he really done to help the situation? He is a Millionaire, has he opened any after school programs? Has he set up any community organizations to help the poor? Has he done any inner-city school tours where he talks about making it and how hard work and staying away from crime and drugs is the way to go? Has he done anything other than Disrespect our Flag and Anthem? Every single person protesting needs to ask themselves one simple question... What have I done to try and solve this problem?

It's likely that this is a junior sailor taking a side on something she shouldn't at least in that form. NJP 40/40 1/2 pay x2 and counseling. I don't give a rats ass about some football player choosing to sit during the anthem. That's his right. Freedom of speech and what not. Anyone serving however should be intelligent enough to realize that in following suit would cause them trouble. I think a reminder is needed in the form of NJP and we should move on. It's not like this sailor went out and killed someone or got a DUI and hurt someone (although in itself would be an issue).

Quick question, if something were to happen to this sailor what would be presented to her family? did she feel the need to make this protest prior to the athlete's sitting it out? I like/agree with the comment really stop and think about what your protesting and what is it accomplishing, if nothing, find other means.
