Why Obama refuses to say 'radical Islamic terrorism'

One of the relatively few things that I agree with the President on is his decision to not cave to (IMO irrational) pressure to label terrorist groups like Daesh or Al Qaeda as "islamic terrorism".

In my view the fact that these groups would prefer that we call them "Islamic" is enough of a reason not to do so. It's for that reason I refer to Daesh as "Daesh" and not "ISIS" or some other name they would want.

The President was asked recently by a Gold Star mother why he won't use the label and I thought his response was interesting enough to post.

Also I'm well aware that many people here disagree with the President on this (and sometimes it seems they would disagree if he said the sky was blue on a clear day). Feel free to disagree but try to remain respectful just as he was when answering this mother's question.

No one has evinced a greater disrespect for Americans than has President Obama. Even Hillary labeling us as a "basket of deplorables" falls short. We the People can differentiate between "Islamic Terrorism" and Islam. We know the difference between a Muslim who is a law abiding citizen and a Muslim who commits acts of terror. We simply are not as stupid as the President likes to pretend we are. Also, we are not so stupid as to fall for his explanation which is nothing more than a canard to place blame on We the People and all other victims of terrorism. In his propaganda efforts, he wants us to believe that all would be right in the world, the Muslim terrorists would stop attacking us if only we were nicer to them (and stopped supporting Israel so they could annihilate the Jews)

Americans think that western culture is what offends jihadists, put that on the apology tour itinerary. We know the alleged reasoning of why President Obama says he ought not to say Radical Islamic Terrorism or Jihadists, somehow him and his supporters think that people do not. They have a label for everything except those.

TSgt Frank Shirley - thank you for having the courage to defend your vote. I'm not sure I understand your explanation but I understand your passion. I'm a very passionate person and sometimes muddle my explanations when the color rises in my complexion. I suspect that you are seeing the President's position in the best light, maybe giving him the benefit of a doubt. Sadly I cannot, not anymore. Still I voted up your explanation of your down vote out of respect for you. I wish I could respect him half as much

One can not be racist towards a religion, or political system. Within Islam, there are a lot of different colors of skin. Calling out Muhammad due to his rape and murder is not racist. It is historical fact.
The terrorists are following Muhammad's example. Because you have a good heart, you want to believe 85% of Muslims are the true Islam and not Apostates.
I applaud your hope. But, history informs us of what is to come from Islam.
