While I have an undying hate for how the VA works (or doesn't) these two stories are Apples and Potatoes. The VA has a long history of malfeasant and is a direct result of corruption and bad leadership. The National Guard members being pinched in CA need to collectively hold up their contracts and point out that those who above them signed and certified they were entitled to that money are responsible not them.

To simplify it if the Career counselor and the CoC say you are entitled to X amount and you agree to sign up to receive it you and they have entered into a agreement. To come back years later and try to change the terms of the deal is unethical, immoral, and illegal. Me I would take them to court for breach of contract and in this case think it can be done.

I agree. I'm sure there is some young lawyer wanting to make a name for himself. I am not a "sue happy" kinda guy, but there are times when legal action is warranted. This is one. I can't imagine an easier case to prove fiscal and emotional damages.

Iron is heavy. Irony, well that is an entirely different subject. You take care of the people you respect and value. That is human nature. I think we all knew before this the low esteem in which those in uniform were held in this administration. One more piece of straw on the already burdened camel's back.
