The $15 minimum wage debate continues. I get the cost of living thing. I don't agree that the Baby Boomers have screwed them, and don't know where it comes from. They would give countless reasons not to get a start in life from the Military. We've heard them all. My rights. I'm "woke". Baby killers. The military-industrial complex. My individuality etc. What they ask is to start out at Corporal's pay, based on a 40 hour week, and the unrealistic expectation that any Serviceman/woman is only obligated 40 hours a week. They are not likely to give their lives in service in the private sector, so it is offensive to expect all gain, no pain starting out. Few employers offer the educational and other benefits offered to one that serves in the military. What they seek is a gravy train, with minimal sacrifice and service on their part. Everyone that is basically eligible should have to serve 2 years minimum in whatever capacity they can; military or otherwise. If for no other reason than the good of the Nation. They might realize the sacrifices made by others to the USA, and feel ownership. Freedom is not free.
