Wish him luck. Not going to speculate once picked as we just need to give them support and prayers that they do their job.

Picking him for HUD using the fact that he lived in government housing as a kid as his main qualification is like saying someone is qualified to be SECDEF because he lived on an Army Post as a kid.

Dr. Carson practiced medicine in and around urban areas and knows a lot about the failings of the government's approach to "helping" the urban areas develop.
He is very wise and soft spoken and as the leader of HUD he could bring order, discipline, accountability and so much more to that organization. He is not a yes man which will hold him in good stead at the helm of HUD. LTC (Join to see)

LTC Stephen F. - But traditionally, doctors, especially specialized areas like brain surgeons, are renowned for their technical brilliance and I don't believe have very much experience in managing large bureaucratic organizations. You often read about how doctors struggle with the business side of trying to run their private offices versus the medical side. Carson himself admitted he was unqualified for a cabinet post when his name came up for surgeon general. If a brain surgeon believes he isn't qualified for being the Surgeon General, why does he think he is qualified to run HUD?

Running huge organizations with massive budgets, with no experience is a set up for failure. Just being smart and a nice guy won't cut it.

I am not sure him being in HUD is a good fit and at the same time, he did turn down a position earlier because of his lack of experience as per his words. Surgeon General maybe, but HUD? I wish him the best of luck.

He got the pick because of the "U" in HUD. Plus he lived in the projects once upon a time.
