I do not see the cancellation happening. His cost of 4 bil is not accurate and the proposed order is for multiple planes

As I understand it, two. Further, adjusted for inflation, the cost should have been around $6-700M per copy, according to reports. This will happen, but probably at a reduced price. Has anyone heard of the Boeing Bank, sweet financial deal.

Would love to know where he's getting that $4B number from, and I hope it's not his rear end.

Seems like we pretty much have to buy new 747's to replace our existing ones, The planes themselves cost less than $400M each the expensive part is all the special stuff to keep the President safe and effectively in control. Seems like cutting costs in either of those two areas wouldn't be popular.

If the decision gets cancelled and Boeing cancels production of the 747 (which is a real possibility) it seems like we will have 3 options once our current planes can no longer be safely operated:
1. Buy Airbus A380 planes from Europe.
2. Decide we don't need to have 4 engines for the President and buy smaller 777 or 787 planes.
3. Buy "lightly used" 747-8 planes from airlines that bought towards the end of the 747 production .run.
