I hope it never stops being a frustration for anyone.
Common sense gun "safety control" should be left up to the populous.
Which means more guns, everywhere.
You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Austin Hocutt I am all for common sense gun safety. Not carrying my sidearm when I am going to go drinking, not leaving a loaded gun where my nine year old grandson can find it, not storing ammo with the firearm when it is unloaded, not going to the range when I am feeling ill. As you said COMMON SENSE.

MSgt Michael Bischoff a good place to start would have been in his "hometown" of Chicago. Start with the inner cities where gang violence is such a daily occurrence that people are desensitized to it. Additionally, he could look at the state of mental health in the United States. Maybe fixing it so people with injuries to the psyche can get the help they need before turning violent would help. Of course those are not as easy as saying "Nobody should have guns." It is far simpler to try taking away civil liberties than it is to address the real problem. Additionally, gun violence in "Gun Free Zones" and in places with very strict gun laws out paces gun violence in other arenas. SO tell me again how gun laws are the answer?

MSgt Michael Bischoff - No, the right to keep and bear arms is a choice. It is not something that people should be compelled to do, nor is it something that should be infringed upon. It is up to us to be responsible. If they really want to curb gun violence, I would suggest that upping the ante on crimes committed with a firearm would be the way to go. Show a gun, go for life. Fire the gun, death. One appeal, to insure that the convicted is in fact the one who discharged the firearm, then death. I am not saying in cases of self defense, I am strictly saying in the case where a CRIME is committed, and a firearm is used either discharged or just to gain compliance, up the penalty. Make the criminals think twice before committing an act of violence. Give them their day in court. Then upon conviction, procedural review, and single appeal, sentence. Don't let them stay on death row for years, carry out the sentence in short order. Also forget the expensive lethal injection. Three .22 caliber bullets base of the skull and both temples. End it quickly.
