The back story on this one would be nice to know. Although I am against Stolen Valor, some dude running around work at the local Goodwill store saying he used to be in the Army is not quite the same as they guy pinning a SEAL trident on a fake uniform or some other asshat cruising around the mall in a uniform that does not belong to him. Just my two cents.

Sir if I heard the lady over the intercom correctly she said "thank you for shopping at your Gilbert Goodwill". I live fairly close to Gilbert and would gladly get this info for you and anyone else intrigued to know the back story.

SPC Neville, no need to get all Magnum PI on this one, I just thought it would be interesting to know the back story. I think the damage has already been done by the two knuckleheads who confronted the kid, filmed and posted the confrontation, and in the process acted like bigger asses than the dude who claimed to be in the Army

I'd like to add that the store pager stunt was amazing, and I owe that fellow soldier a drink I ever meet him.

This guy is obviously deranged. No need to call him out.
I served 22 years active duty in the Marine Corps, in the poguest of pogue MOS's... Avionics! I've been retired for almost thirty years, and I don't think that I've EVER met a support Soldier or Marine. Everyone was either an 11B or 0311. I have no idea where all of support guys went!

To tell the truth, for many years, I was always a bit embarrassed by my 0311 MOS. When people asked what I did in the Marines, they always seemed a bit disappointed I wasn't in the Air Wing or a tanker or some other "cool job". When I'd say infantry, they always looked puzzled and I'd have to clarify, I was a Rifleman. They'd say something like " Oooh, ok." and the conversation would end. Later, in the Reserves, I got a 5811 MOS (MP) and that got more immediate recognition and cool factor props.

Flash forward to 2016/17 and suddenly, there's a huge increase in 11B's and 0311's. It's not cool to just be in the military anymore, you have to be infantry. Whatever, my knees and back say differently. Be proud of your service, don't be a D-bag and go around calling out mentally challenged kids who claim to be snipers. That kid in the video is obviously low IQ. The "vets" calling him out for "Stolen Valor" have no idea what that actually means - he wasn't claiming any benefit or asking for money/drinks etc so his BS story doesn't qualify for that. Impersonating a "vet" is not a crime. It's stupid, and 99/100 are very, very easy to spot, but it's not Stolen Valor.
