Rep. Steve King: John Lewis trades on status as civil rights icon, hasn't contributed since

"I've served with John Lewis now for quite some time," King, a Republican, said of Lewis, a Democrat. "And we don't really always, I don't know that we've ever found ourselves where we've been working together on legislation in that way. But I have long contemplated the idea of just going to the floor and saying, 'John Lewis, thank you for your contribution to civil rights during the civil rights era. I would appreciate it if you would contribute something since then. It's been a half a century.' And a number of us have watched that and said, 'He trades off of it.' And I guess that's fine. But he should be doing some other things too. And I haven't seen it happen from him."

Rep. Lewis is a prime example of why we need term limits. These "seat warmers" are ineffective, inept, have lost touch with reality, don't care about their constituents, all they care about is who they owe favors to, and what perks they can get. He, and others like him need to go! #draintheswamp

In any case we live in a world of unintended consequences...limit congressional terms and the true beneficiary will be the only ones left who have true staying power and can outlast a two-term congressman or senator...the lobbyists. If you think it's bad now....

CAPT (Join to see) - again I disagree, we have term limits and the Congress person doesn't become a career politician. They do their 2 terms, go back to being a private citizen, therefore, they are more inclined to keep their hands on the pulse of their constituents. If allowed to remain too far removed for too long, it's human nature to lose touch.

King is our rep and people are up in arms in areas here. Me...two fold answer. I think there may be more truth there than some will believe and King is transferring heat from the DJT camp to his...possibly. may not be a popular answer but the truth rarely is.
