This decision is short sighted and stupid. The Army has done this before and never learns the lesson that you can have all the gadgets you want, but it takes men....boots on the ground....to do anything.
LRSCs like the LRRPs before them are a vital asset to the ground commander. I served in a LRSC, and can tell you that the unit I was in provided more "Bang for the Buck" than a fleet of drones. One 6 man LRS team with a radio and good Point Of View can do as much damage as a battalion to any enemy.
I sincerely hope that the New President and his advisers will reconsider this before all the institutional knowledge has retired and moved on to life after the Army. By the way, the United States Marine Corps is smart enough to keep it's Marine Recon Units....Hey, "Big Army" follow the example of the Marine Corps and get a clue.

F Company 51st Infantry (Airborne)(LRS) Forever!

SFC (Anonymous) - back in the day LRRPs & Force Recon did well without real-time 24x7 commo

SFC (Anonymous) - SFC is not a Marine rank... "Old Breed" means something specific to Marines. I doubt you're old enough for mentoring by the Old Breed

SFC (Anonymous) - as i said... it has a specific meaning. The "Old Breed" are the Marines who formed the nucleus of the 1st Marine Division in WWII. The Old Breed are those who won at Guadalcanal. No others.
