What America is doing is applying common sense. Most of what has invaded Europe is not real refugees but young men invading and country shopping for benefits. Beggars can't be choosers and the notion that many of the Syrian refugees were literally leaving a trail of garbage everywhere they went and were throwing food away because it didn't meet their standards is a bunch of crap! These young men should be fighting for their homeland, not bringing their problems with them to the countries that graciously took them in.

Clearly they aren't too bad off if they are dressed in nice clothes, have cell phones, demand high speed Internet, and throw food away... and show their appreciation by groping and raping the local women!!!

No longer? Did we "adhere" to this treaty in 2011 when Obama blocked Iraqis from entering the U.S.? Did we adhere in 1979 when Carter blocked Iranians? How about the 70s when Vietnamese were blocked? I am too young to remember the "outrage" in the 70s, but don't remember the protests in 2011.

Sorry, but your own reference gives you the actual answer:

Article 1 of the Convention, as amended by the 1967 Protocol, defines a refugee as this:

"A person who owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it."

Nothing here that I see regarding fleeing from a war zone, hence the Convention requirements do not apply, except perhaps to the non-Muslims in those countries as they ARE persecuted for reasons of race and/or religion.
