I realize this is a 4 year old thread. It was a suicide. He was found dead behind the building and not in front of it as was posted with his M11 still at his side. He had been experiencing emotional difficulties and resisted seeking help. Why do old posts like this pop up? There's no serial killer on Fort Hood. But there is a lack of ass kicking evolve volunteer soldiers. Recruiters are always below quotas and that's unacceptable. So they get waivers for this and that and let damn near anybody in. As long as you can point and M4 and shoot the enemy you qualify.

It makes 11 ASSIGNED to fort Hood.
(Zero is a better number) But the facts are, most of those did not happen ON Fort Hood, some not even in the US, and most were not foul play indicated
As usual the media sells a different story, unless you read the fine print.

4 in Afghanistan Combat related
2 Single Vehicle accidents
2 Known illnesses
2 GSW, 1 likely self inflected, one likely criminally related
and a couple of they not telling, but the info reads like suicide.

EVEN ONE IS TOO MANY...... But please ...the facts are, its not someone on a murder rampage

SFC Smith,
i agree with everything you have said about Ft. Hood, TX. I was there from 92-96 and worked as a road MP and as a Traffic Accident Investigator. I was there when Ft. Hood was wide open, no gates, no passes ect. We never knew who we were pulling over or where they were coming from. We had numerous fatalities to include POV and sometimes military vehicles. Suicides, gangs (drive by), dui's both on and off post. Hell, the PMO had a CPL section (Civilian Police Liason) made up of MP soldiers who worked wih the civilan police agency in regards to off posts arrest, awol, warrants for soldiers from the civilian side. They had what we (MP) called a warrant round up every two weeks. I like said, Hood was wide open and I loved it! You never knew what your day or evening was gonna be like, it was always hoppen and poppen when I was there!
