DoD came out with its directive, which I have read and keep a copy of on my desk, unfortunately it tasks the individual services to come up with a plan or submit why they don't want to follow it. It is going to be up to the individual commander to sign off on it and then renew it every 90 days. This stems from the Tennessee Shootings and the call from Congress for the Military to protect its stand alone facilities.

Bottom line, if you are on a big army base they are not going to allow you to carry. they will site that the MP's can respond to any incident.

This is a limited policy, does not apply to a post or base that has MPs or civ police. Applies to reserve units that have no security, probably 100% of recruiting stations. Don't look for this to happen on any post or station anytime soon. Would be a F'ing nightmare for MPs. Semper Fi.
