Amazing vintage photos of American Bookmobiles in the past

Did you ever borrow a book from a bookmobile - a library on wheels? I well remember them. The first book I ever "borrowed" from one became one of my lifelong favorites and I was fortunate in later years to obtain a copy as well as the other two written by the same author, Alfred Toombs - Raising a Riot, Honeymoon for Seven, and Good As Gold

I remember them well, but wore out the libraries that had a much better collection.

MCPO Roger Collins While in the second grade I frequented a 'Dale Carnegie' library in Columbus, OH. I would walk home reading one new book while carrying the others.

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 - InThe third grade, I used to put a library book inside one of my school books and read them. Usually could read a book in one sitting, I went through the entire Tom Swift series in sequence. Still an avid reader of actual paper books from the library. Hate electronic reads.

MCPO Roger Collins - Tom Swift? and you are still alive? Tarzan by Rice Burroughs was a favorite of mine.

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 - Different Tarzan than depicted today, trying to keep up with a 12 & 14 year old grandsons doesn't permit me time to croak. Speaking of that I'm on the way out at 6:35 AM to take them to school.
