Another fake digital Taps bugle bites the dust . . .
Yet again another veteran's funeral honors disgraced by a mis-functioning digital fake bugle.
"When Congress passed legislation stating U.S. Veterans had a right to at least 2 uniformed military people to fold and present the flag as well as a performance of "TAPS", at their funerals. Unfortunately, over 90% of Veteran's funerals use a PRERECORDED version of "TAPS", as the Military doesn't have the musicians available to give a Live performance to all our Veterans any more."
I'm a USAR Musician stationed at Fort Knox, and I've had fights with the Fort Knox CAO office off and on for years about 1) requesting live trumpet players from my unit for funeral detail, and 2) making requests through Bugles Across America (of which I am also a member). They have repeatedly ignored these options, choosing to only send requests to the 113th Army Band (the active-duty band stationed at Fort Knox which will be inactivating later this year) or just playing the recorded version Taps at funerals.
EVERY SERVICE MEMBER OR VETERAN WHO SEES THIS POST: YOU OR ANY FAMILY MEMBERS WHO SERVED IN THE U.S. MILITARY ARE ENTITLED TO THE SOUNDING OF TAPS AT YOUR / THEIR FUNERAL. I strongly encourage you to make a point of requesting a LIVE bugler to sound Taps at memorial services. You can request a bugler through the U.S. Army Music website, or via Bugles Across America.
Otherwise you run the risk of seeing this happen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5wxs49AuPg
