I will admit to a prejudice bred of the headline "The Real Reason America Lost the War in Vietnam..." We didn't lose. We won. The Chinese failed to subjugate Vietnam. They were there only because the Japanese used them to police the Vietnamese (which explains why the Vietnamese well hated their ethnic Chinese neighbors). The French though it was a grand idea when they returned following WWII, and thus gave the Viet Minh additional incentive to win their freedom from the colonial masters. Only America entered the fray and won. We drove the North to the peace tables in Paris and won an end to the fighting. All that follows is political buffoonery...

Thanks for sharing. WW II resulted in a great number of geopolitical repercussions that affect the world to this day. However, IF the United States lost the Vietnam war, and I don't concede that we did, it was due to political meddling, incompetence, and malfeasance. The seeds of the conflict may well have been sown during, and immediately after, WW II, but the cause of any defeat lies directly in Washington, D.C.

America did not lose the war in Vietnam anymore than they lost the battle of Iwo Jima.
