Very cool! Not only could it make huge advances in protecting our guys & gals in uniform, it might help protect our astronauts from space junk.

Hopefully it will lead to advances! New technology is always limited by prohibitive costs of adoption into the military. It may be a while before any conducive tech could be applied to a military context.
