Indeed! These storms can brew up in just minutes, from Moderate cumulous to Severe Thunderstorm. In Little Rock AFB, we had a 80,000 foot top! The average thunderstorm 30,000 feet. Of course, that turned into an Extreme storm; including tornado, large hail and 70mph winds.
These Meso-scale storm areas are famous for multiple storms with numerous tornadoes, large hail and extreme damage. It is during these supercell systems that a lot of lives are taken.
