I think, and for the record I am a constitutional conservative, that Trump sees providing the missile defense system to South Korea in a similar light to NATO in that the US can't foot the bill for defending the rest of the free world. We are running a deficit of ever expanding proportions. And continuing to blow up that deficit like a balloon is going to bite us in the ass! What happens when the "paper" comes due, and we are called onto the carpet to answer "where is our money" by China. I see the deficit, and who holds the "paper" on it, as a major national security issue.

I belive he thinks that Government is a a for profit business, and like the businesses he has run the bottom line is the most important things, He has never played for high stakes other than financial stakes. Many folks here have made decisions for far highers real world stakes than he has ever though of playing for before he was POTUS. He seeming can't get money off the top of his priority list,.

Perhaps he should take a trip to Arlington and see what stakes he is playing for now, Perhaps he can take a veteran to explain the concept to him.

Here. Watch me stir the pot... Allowing bullies to succeed merely encourages them to keep bullying. It's called the "Domino Effect". Once upon a time every school child knew this. Stand up to a bully and they'll go bully someone else. Stand up as a group and the bully is shut down. Of course, school children aren't allowed to defend themselves. They're punished (much like the UN regularly punishes Israel for defending itself - see the pattern here?) Well, Kim is a bully. He's bullied everyone around him while the UN and the US have fretted and whined. Thus, he has good reason to continue. He's never faced an adversary who has had the temerity to stand up to him. His success has encouraged other bullies to emerge from the shadows. We call them "terrorists"

So we stand up to the bully and if thousands of American troops die and hundreds of thousand of our allies die it is inconsequential to you, as long as we teach the bully a lesson. the last war cost HALF A MILLION casualties, just on our side, and a new one would not be any cheaper with nukes involved.
