Only once, while I'd been at USAF OTS, did I ever see anything of that sort for real...one of the guys in my first class, before I was recycled for my second one, I went through twice to get done, had been an NCAA track star, I'd gathered...he did the mile and a half we all had to do in about 6 mins, give or take, basically a 4-min mile rate...he also had this really weird ray of running, I've said on here, leaping like a gazelle on his toes, honest, he'd clearly been really seriously trained to do it that way, I'd gathered, ya know? Me, even with one of my roommates from my first class pacing me, which we were allowed, nipping at my heels, screaming in my ear, I still only made the 12-min limit by, I kid thee all not, literally 1 sec, for real...Army had me do 2 mi in 18 mins, I was able, then sprained an ankle, which caused me to get dropped from the program, as my run time went back up...Army had us do it in fatigues with combat boots, USAF had us do it in shorts with sneakers....

Amazing feat! "All" he has to do is shave off 1 second of each mile and he will have accomplished a tremendous feat!
