Thoughts? I'll probably put in another decade or so in uniform (already have 11 or so active years with my enlisted time), but thoughts of "retirement" cross my mind on the regular. The wife is from Northern CA and I think she wants to be head back that way, but it's too darn expensive. I grew up in Kansas City and while I'll always love my hometown, I don't see myself living there again. Luckily I'm training for a career that will allow me some flexibility when it's time to put up my boots for good.

Although I am not retired from the military, I live in Florida and think highly of the VA here in Daytona, Orlando, and Gainesville. I walked in and made an appointment with an audiologist and had hearing aids within a month without any cost. The environment here in Daytona is great other than an occasional hurricane.

Southern Arizona is a good place! Low cost of living, abundant housing, great medical care, large VA hospital and quite a few CBOC's (Community Based Outpatient Clinic).
